The Akrotiri Environmental Education and Information Centre is situated within Akrotiri Community and operates in a framework of cooperation between the Sovereign Base Areas, the Ministry of Education and Culture and Akrotiri Community. Since 2007 it is part of the Network of Environmental Education Centres of the Ministry of Education and Culture together with other Centres in different areas of the island.

The primary purpose of the Centre is to promote the unique environmental and cultural significance of Akrotiri Peninsula through programmes and exhibits. The Centre receives organised school visits for environmental education, as well as individuals, families and other groups for various matters relating to the environment. The educational programmes offered to school groups cover various themes. They are based on an interdisciplinary approach which focuses on active participant involvement in creative activities at all stages.

The facilities of the Centre comprise the following areas: exhibition and laboratory; projection and presentation room; library and study room; and a wildlife observation kiosk. The facilities were upgraded in 2007 following a donation of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation. It offers full equipment for the activities undertaken at the Centre and at the different outdoor study areas. The Akrotiri cultural trail starts from the Centre and passes through the community, the houses where baskets are made and other points of cultural interest. The facilities are also suitable for persons with impaired mobility.
